Photometer

Photometer

Photometers are instruments capable of capturing variations of luminosity of a celestial object equivalent to one hundredth of Magnitude and, therefore, are used in photometry studies.

They are based on electronic circuits comprising photoelectric cells (which transform a light pulse into a variation of electrical current) and photoamplifier tubes (which greatly amplify the signal they receive).

These instruments are no longer exclusively used by the most advanced astronomical observers, but thanks to the enormous dissemination of microelectronics they are also found in the amateur astronomy market, so that amateurs, and in particular variable star observers , you can use them in your studies.
